Latest News/Forms/Resources/Misc.

  • Added March 1, 2025: Congratulations to our Muir District Communications Chair Patrick Jaime for being recognized with the 2024 NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award (NOESA)! See Patrick’s award biography here: https://blog.goldengatescouting.org/2025-volunteer-celebration-program/. Based on available records, Patrick joins Jack Borde, Guy Swanger, Craig Mizutani, and Council President Tom Weibert as NOESA recipients from the Muir District.
    • The NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award is granted by the local council’s NESA committee to honor Eagle Scouts who have demonstrated service at the local, state, or regional levels. These honorees inspire others through their actions and have dedicated their lives to their profession, and interests, in and outside of Scouting. The Outstanding Eagle Scout Award was implemented in 2010 in conjunction with the Boy Scout of America’s 100th anniversary. The local council in the territory of the Eagle Scout’s primary residence has responsibility for nominations.

    • Join us at our Muir District DInner March 22, 2025 to celebrate Patrick and our other outstanding volunteers who will be recognized for their contribution to Scouting in our local communities. To sign up, please click on this link: https://scoutingevent.com/023-96638

  • Added February 10, 2025: The Scouting America Clothing Guideline aims to foster unity, respect, and safety during Scouting activities. While the official Scouting America field uniform is encouraged, participants can wear an activity uniform as needed during their Scouting activities. First and foremost, all clothing choices should meet safety requirements and reflect the values of the Scout Oath, the Scout Law, and the Scouter Code of Conduct. https://www.scouting.org/program-updates/scouting-activity-clothing-guideline/

  • Added December 18, 2024: An update to the Eagle Scout Rank Application was just posted: https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/512-728_WB_fillable.pdf. This update now clarifies 2 things:
    • Scouts require 4 references with no categories
    • “Full Legal Name” has changed to “Full Name” to allow for preferred names on credentials

  • Added December 5, 2024: Effective December 3, all direct contact leaders are required to complete Hazardous Weather Training. A notification will go out to each affected member from Scouting U. More information regarding safety training can be found at the Health and Safety website, https://www.scouting.org/training/health-and-safety/

  • Added August 24, 2024: UPDATE for Mandated Reporter Training & Live Scan background check information on the Council website (click web link below). If you have completed the January 2023 or later version of the mandated reporter training, you no longer need to take it again (“one and done”; does not expire).  Also, we no longer need to use the California Scouting website to upload the certificate as the Council receives the certificates from the new website. https://ggacbsa.org/youth%20protection/

  • Added February 17, 2022AB 506 Live Scan background check (complete ASAP/by recharter)
    • A Live Scan background check (the digital version of inked fingerprinting) is required for all volunteers and staff. Live Scan replaces previous background checks; all volunteers will have to complete this once.  Please see this email for more details and the required GGAC Live Scan paperwork: https://conta.cc/3uUhZhl.
